Legend Golf & Safari Resort

The Signature Course at Legend Golf & Safari Resort is truly unique, as each hole on the Signature Course has been designed by a world golfing legend such as Trevor Immelman, Retief Goosen and Vijay Singh. Furthermore, the Extreme 19th offers the longest Par 3 in the world, measuring 316 meters, and it does so in spectacular fashion. In order to play the hole, you ride to the top of Hanglip mountain in a helicopter. From 400 meters above the green, your ball takes nearly 20 seconds to drop.

This is the also longest course in South Africa, at 6,534 meters, and wildlife roams freely over the flowing fairways. If that isn’t enough, the 10-hole Par 3 Tribute course recreates famous holes from around the world.

Leopard Creek Golf Resort

Right on the Crocodile River, which forms a scenic and natural border with the Kruger National Park, Leopard Creek offers impressive game viewing, sometimes right on the course. The golf is equally good, with the 6,047 meter course initially designed by Gary Player and later improved by Jack Niklaus.

Despite the deceptively serene settings, and a gentle, welcoming first 9, the course is renowned for strategic, challenging holes, and several shots will have you carefully mulling over your approach. The 505 meter Par 5 13-th hole is particularly memorable, with the edge of the green perched perilously over the Crocodile River.

Fancourt Golf Estate

The Fancourt Golf Estate offers an endless variety. The Links course, designed by Gary Player, is famed for the technical challenge that it presents. The two parkland layout courses, Montagu and Outeniqua, are also Gary Player creations and offer rewarding golf in a magnificent setting. All three courses consistently rate in South Africa’s Top 20, with The Links being very familiar with the no. 1 spot.

Fancourt supplements this with its own golf academy, practice facilities and every modern convenience. Add in the phenomenal variety of landscapes, culinary delights, oceanic explorations and other adventures that are available in the Garden Route, and this destination offers days upon days of entertainment and leisure.

Entabeni Conservancy - Hanglip Mountain Lodge

Situated directly adjacent to the Legend Golf & Safari Resort, in the Waterberg region, the Entabeni Conservancy is home to the free roaming Big 5. The Waterberg region is highly scenic, with its peaks and folds offering stunning backdrops for the wildlife.

Hanglip Mountain Lodge offers magnificent views over the wetlands, plains and Hanglip Mountain itself. Classic African luxury abounds, making this a fantastic base for golfers and for enjoying this scenic Big 5 bushveld region.

Kruger National Park - Jock Safari Lodge

Leopard Creek Golf Estate directly borders the renowned Kruger National Park, the gem of South African wildlife viewing and one of the largest conservancies in Africa. As the Crocodile River is the only boundary between the golf course and the national park, wildlife sightings on the course itself are not uncommon.

Jock Safari Lodge is nestled in right in the bush, between the Mitomeni and Biyamiti rivers, which draw wildlife with their life-giving waters. With over 6000 hectares of exclusive traversing rights, and only a few km from the golf course, this is the perfect location for both a world-class safari experience and epic golf.

The region is consequently verdant and full of life, and has drawn its folk from all over the country. With all its modern amenities, Fancourt Golf Estate is a fantastic base from which to explore the diverse region.

The breeze tickles your palms as you close your eyes and focus. Small beads of sweat prickle as they cool. The rhythmic sound of the helicopter that took you to the top of the mountain still beats in your head, helping you calm yourself. You open your eyes again and gaze, almost in disbelief, at the silhouette of Africa, painted in green on the verdant landscape 400 metres below you.

When you read that Africa was a wild place, you didn’t quite realise that we meant, ‘even the golf’! You take dead aim at the distant green, execute the perfect swing...and watch as the ball drops, and drops. This is your shot at the longest Par 3 in the world.
